Office Space Spotlight: Nothing Bundt Cakes Albany

With nearly 150 businesses renting Anderson Group office and retail spaces in the Albany, Guilderland, and Colonie area, we’re fortunate to witness many of their accomplishments firsthand. After interviewing the owner of Albany’s Nothing Bundt Cakes, Melissa Gleason, during the opening of her Wolf Road location in 2017, we recently checked back in on her business to see how they’ve grown!

Melissa and Matt Gleason opened New York’s first Nothing Bundt Cakes Bakery in 2017 after falling in love with the cakes made by the franchise that has over 390 bakeries nationwide. While Melissa and Matt have expanded their business with a second location in Clifton Park, their roots remain with The Anderson Group at their original location on 110 Wolf Road. We are thrilled that our Colonie, NY retail space has brought the Gleason family such success and we can’t wait to see what they do next to expand even further in the Capital Region.

We asked Melissa 5 questions about her business:

When did you start your business and why?

We started our business in September of 2017 as the first Nothing Bundt Cakes Bakery in New York State. We tried the cake and loved the product so much we decided to open our own store with The Anderson Group on Wolf Road in Colonie, NY.

What types of services do you offer?

Our business is a single product bakery which makes us the best at what we do!  We carry 10 flavors of cake in four different sizes all topped with our signature cream cheese frosting.

What is unique about your business?

Our products are created for a variety of special events in the Albany area and beyond. We make cakes for birthdays as well as larger events such as weddings or showers.  They make great corporate gifts as well as we can add logos and company colors. Our products can be delivered and shipped as well, making accessibility to our products never an issue!

How have you expanded your business?

In March 2021, we opened an additional Nothing Bundt Cakes location in Clifton Park. We bake onsite at our bakeries so it is great to be able to expand to two properties in the Capital District.

What’s next for your business?

In the future, we hope to open a third retail location in Saratoga Springs. We are concentrating on events such as farmers markets and craft fairs to get our products out to the public and grow our business in the Capital Region.
