Office Space Spotlight: Right at Home of Albany

With nearly 150 businesses renting Anderson Group office spaces in the Capital Region, we’re fortunate to witness many success stories firsthand. Everyday we’re inspired by our tenants, and this month we’re focusing a spotlight on Right at Home of Albany, NY.

Stacey Melnyk, RN, BSN (CEO & Owner) and her business partner James Davis (COO & Owner) joined forces to open the business in 2015. They had a goal to fill a gap in at home health care in the Capital Region. They have recently joined The Anderson Group family, leasing office space on Wolf Road. We are thrilled to have a business providing such a necessary service join us and hope to see their company grow in the future.

We asked Stacey and James 5 questions about the business:

 When did the business start & why?

I started Right at Home with my friend, Stacey, in Albany, NY in 2015. Stacy and I decided that we could make a difference in providing high quality home care for seniors due to our past experiences with less-than-ideal home care.

What is unique about the business?

Our focus on the “Right People” is what makes our business unique.  This means we have two priorities – first, we do an excellent job of “matching” our clients to our caregivers based upon personalities and care needs.  Second, our caregivers are the life blood of this organization.  We focus on our employees to ensure they have the proper support and training to deliver outstanding care.  Anyone who’s been a caregiver for a family member knows that it is not easy – our caregivers are special people who deliver care like the client is their “own loved one.”

What types of services do you offer?

Our Albany-based company offer two services:  Personal Home Care and Homemaking/Companionship

3. • • Personal care involves support with dressing, bathing, going to the bathroom and transferring/walking. These are activities of daily living (ADLs). The additional services that are listed under Homemaking/Companionship apply to personal care as well.
     • Homemaking/Companionship involves support with meal preparation, companionship to reduce isolation, laundry, light cleaning, and support for clients who have cognitive impairment that need supervision and safety monitoring.

How have you expanded or grown your business?

Our services have grown substantially, with our company expanding by 30% per year due to the growing focus on staying in your home. We’re excited to continue our growth by moving into a great office space at The Anderson Group’s 125 Wolf Road office building.

What’s next for your business?

Our company’s next step is to become a National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) certified home care agency.  This is a quality stamp that improves health quality through the administration of evidence-based standards, measures and programs. The NCQA stamp is a universal heading that applies to quality for all health care specialties, including Cardiology, Emergency, Ob/Gyn, etc.
